Contact us from abroad

If you want to contact us about a research query or placing an order for copies of documents or for us to conduct a search for you, please e-mail us on ero.enquiry@essex.gov.uk If you need to call us to make a payment, please follow the instructions below.

To call the UK from abroad, you first need to know your International Direct Dialling code (IDD). This is what tells your service provider you are dialling out of your national network. These vary from country to country.

  • For most countries, the IDD is 00. This includes New Zealand, Ireland, and continental Europe.
  • For the USA, the IDD is 011.
  • For Australia, the IDD is 0011.
  • Look up IDDs for other countries

Once you know the IDD for the country you are calling from, you should dial:

Your IDD followed by: 44 33301 32500

This number is for our Searchroom team. We will always do our best to answer it during Searchroom opening hours but sometimes the line is busy or our staff members are all occupied helping customers. If you don’t get through at first do please try again, or you can try this alternative number:

Your IDD followed by: 44 33301 32500

This number goes through to our document production team, who again will do their best to answer your call.
