How to get copies of items from our collections
There are various options for obtaining copies of items from our collection, depending on your requirements and whether you are visiting in person or requesting copies remotely. Our digitisation service uses high quality equipment to copy material for external clients.
We can provide research quality or high quality digital images of most of the items in our collection, whether for your own private research or for display or publication.
Research quality images can be e-mailed to you, high quality images can be supplied on a CD. We can also supply prints, please see below for details.
You can place an order in person in the Searchroom, or you can request copies remotely by contacting us on firstname.lastname@example.org to request a reprographics form.
If you are visiting the Searchroom, you can bring your own digital camera and purchase a camera licence for £12 for the day, or £6 after 5pm on Tuesday (on our weeks with late openings until 8pm - find our opening hours here). Camera stands with cool lights for searchers to use are provided.
Most of our documents can be photographed in this way for your own private study. Just let Searchroom staff know when you arrive that you are planning to take photographs during your visit and they will be able to advise you further. Read our rules governing the use of cameras in the Searchroom.
Copies of microform material can be made either as paper prints or digitally.
If you are visiting the Searchroom and need copies from any of our microfiche or microfilm collections, you can purchase a copy card from the Searchroom Desk for use with our self-service reader printer to produce paper copies. If you would like digital copies, please ask a member of staff for a reprographics form and leave your order with us.
You can also request copies from microfiche and microfilm remotely; please e-mail us on email@example.com to request a reprographics form.
On-the-spot paper copies can be provided for Searchroom visitors of many of our documents.
We can also provide colour prints of digital images. These can be requested in person in the Searchroom or requested remotely by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org for a reprographics form.
If you are requesting a copy remotely and are unsure where the information you want is within a large document or bundle of documents, your request may have to be made through our Search Service.
