Description

This day will provide an introduction to Heritage Lottery funding streams for First World War projects, and showcase existing community First World War research projects taking place in Essex. There will also be a presentation by the Everyday Lives in War First World War Engagement Centre on how they can support independent researchers and community groups researching the First World War, and an insight into the resources and support available from the Essex Record Office.

  • Showcase of HLF-supported local First World War projects: From the Trenches to Tendring (Friends of Jaywick Martello Tower), We Will Remember Them (North Primary School, Colchester), and Voices of the Great War (Lakeside Theatre, University of Essex)
  • Paul Rusiecki showcases his book, The Impact of Catastrophe: The People of Essex and the First World War (1914-1920)
  • Sally Page, Development Officer from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will explain their First World War: Then and Now grant programme and talk about how you can apply
  • The Everyday Lives in War Engagement Centre and the Essex Record Office will share how they can support researchers working on First World War projects

This event is being run by the Everyday Lives in War First World War Engagement Centre, which is based at the University of Essex and University of Hertfordshire, and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
